Reliance Industries becomes the first Indian company to achieve market capitalization of Rs 20 lakh crore

New Delhi: Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) on Tuesday became the first company in the country to achieve market capitalization of Rs 20 lakh crore. Amidst the strength in the stock market, the shares of Mukesh Ambani’s company also reached a 52-week high during trading. RIL shares jumped 1.88 percent to a record Rs 2957.80 per equity in BSE. Later it closed at Rs 2,928.95 per equity with a gain of 0.90 per cent. The market capitalization of the company increased to Rs 20,01,279.72 crore during trading. However, at the end of trading it was Rs 19,81,635.72 crore.
Shares of Reliance Industries rose by about 1.89 percent to a record Rs 2,958 per equity on the National Stock Exchange. Later it stood at Rs 2,926.20 per equity with a rise of 0.74 percent. In the last two weeks, the market capitalization of Reliance Industries has increased by about Rs 1 lakh crore.
In terms of market valuation, Reliance Industries remains at the top among the 10 major companies. This is followed by TCS, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Infosys, Life Insurance Corporation of India, State Bank of India, Bharti Airtel, Hindustan Unilever and ITC respectively.
