Russia and Turkey are trying to solve problems with bank transfers that have arisen due to sanctions, said Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov. He said this during a press call in response to a question about whether Moscow plans contacts with Ankara before the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the United States.

“In all financial matters, contacts at the working level are constantly carried out in order to find a way out of this situation. Certain problems do exist, but it is obvious what is causing these problems. This causes serious damage to the interests of both our and Turkish economic operators,” the Kremlin representative noted. He did not provide any details about bilateral contacts.

At the end of March, it became known that trade with Turkey was at risk of stopping due to financial problems. The Dunya newspaper reported that local companies were unable to receive remittances from Russia and close their export accounts, and banks were rejecting payments en masse. The country’s Ministry of Trade called the situation force majeure. Moreover, how found out Reuters, due to tightening requirements for compliance with anti-Russian sanctions, domestic oil companies are facing delays in paying for fuel.

Details are in the Kommersant FM article. “Turkish banks are rejecting payments”.
