New Delhi : If you have taken SBI Bank Locker in State Bank of India i.e. SBI, then there is an important news for you. The bank has issued a notice to you. This notice is regarding amendment in the rules of bank locker (SBI Bank Locker Rule). The amendment in the rules is to be implemented by September 30. For this, customers have to do an important thing. They have to update their Bank Locker Agreement. SBI has issued a notice on Twitter asking customers to update the bank locker agreement.

SBI said this in the notice

SBI has recently made a tweet. The country’s largest bank said in this tweet, ‘Bank has issued revised / supplementary locker agreement incorporating the rights of the customers. Customers availing SBI locker service are requested to contact their locker branch and make changes as per the revised/supplementary agreement.

RBI gave the timeline

RBI has asked banks to implement the rule of locker agreement up to 50 percent by June 30 and 75 percent by September 30. Banks will have to give this information on the efficient supervisory portal. RBI’s new bank locker rules provide more protection to the customers. That’s why customers should renew their SBI Bank Locker Agreement soon.

What is special in the new rules?

SBI’s new bank locker rules have many things in view of protecting the interest of the customers. Let’s know:
– Bank will send e-mail and SMS on locker access.
If the contents of the locker are damaged due to the negligence of the bank, the bank will pay compensation. The Bank cannot abdicate its responsibility in case of incidents like fire, theft/robbery, building collapse.
If the loss is due to fraud committed by the bank employee, the bank will compensate you up to 100 times the annual rent of the locker.
Banks will continue to accept FDs to recover locker rent. This will include three years’ rent and locker opening charges in case of any adverse event.
