Selling dominates share market, Sensex falls 453 points

Stock Market Closing Bell: Indian Share Market A huge decline was seen due to heavy selling. Pressure was again seen in midcap and smallcap. By the time the market closed, the Sensex had fallen 0.62 percent or 453.85 points to reach 72,643.43. Whereas, Nifty slipped 0.68 percent or 150.10 points and closed at 21,996.55. Due to low prices of petrol and diesel, there was a huge decline in the stocks of oil marketing companies. Shares of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) fell 9 percent or Rs 45 to Rs 455.10 on BSE. At the same time, shares of Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) fell by 6.80 percent to Rs 158.40 and shares of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) fell by 6.37 percent to Rs 570.20. Whereas, after NCPI got the approval of the third party licensee, Paytm’s stock saw a rise of five percent.

Huge movement seen in Sensex-Nifty

On BSE’s 30-share Sensex, only six companies closed in the green while trading only. Whereas, shares of 24 companies closed with red mark. At the same time, all the sectors on Nifty closed with red mark. Auto, Pharma, Health Care and Oil & Gas were the biggest losers. Today 3936 companies were trading in the market. Out of these, shares of 1811 companies closed with profit. Whereas, the stocks of 2010 companies closed in loss. There was no change in the share prices of 115 companies.

Equity benchmark indices witnessed a decline in early trade on Friday amid weak global market trends and foreign fund withdrawal. After a weak start, the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 314.56 points at 72,782.72. NSE Nifty was down 101.65 points at 22,045. In the broader market, the BSE midcap gauge was trading down 0.79 per cent while the smallcap index was down 0.28 per cent. Global oil standard Brent crude was down 0.18 percent at US $ 85.27 per barrel.
