Iveco and Smet continue to lead the way of change thanks to fleet renewal of the Salerno group with 100 new Iveco S-Way Fuel Hero powered by 490 hp to HVO (hydrogenated vegetable oil)which will be delivered during the year to be used in transport and logistics activities throughout the national territory.

The 100 Iveco S-Way Fuel Hero 490 hp (model AS440S49T/P) are two-axle tractors equipped with a Cursor 13 eVGT engine and 12-speed Hi-Tronix gearbox. The vehicles have been developed to achieve maximum fuel savings of up to 8%, making them the ideal solution for long-range sustainability. Furthermore, Iveco S-Way diesels are 100% compatible with HVO biofuel, which can be used in purity in all the most recent diesel engines: it is a high quality biofuel of vegetable origin and from waste for increasingly green.

“We have embarked on a path whose objective is, ultimately, the construction of a concretely sustainable future, through a new paradigm of progress for the transport sector,” he explained Domenico De Rosapresident of Smet group, recently appointed Knight of the Republic. “For over 30 years we have chosen maritime and railway intermodality, which we have then combined with latest generation vehicles for the first and last mile, with alternative traction to diesel and therefore with reduced environmental impact. The entry into our fleet of these 100 Iveco S-Way Fuel Hero compatible with HVO vegetable biofuel is further tangible proof that we invest in technological innovation, to reduce the environmental impact for the benefit of the community”, added De Rosa.

“The partnership with the Smet group is increasingly tested and together we continue to look synergistically at the future of transport, thanks to the renewal of the fleet of a partner who, with foresight and a spirit of innovation, makes sustainability a real corporate strategy” , he has declared Massimiliano Perridirector Iveco Italian Market. For Sara FerrajoliCEO of Mecar, who took care of the supply of the vehicles, “this new agreement not only strengthens the customer’s trust in Iveco but, above all, consolidates once again the historical relationship between Mecar and Smet, who for years have created continuous collaboration projects making , such a one-of-a-kind partnership.”
