Stock market, Europe opens negative. The possible escalation in the Middle East weighs heavily

Investors are worried about the possible escalation in the Middle East and they do not seem to have reacted to the data on the Chinese economy in the first three months of the year (+5.3% compared to 2023, more than expected at 4.6%).
In Italy today we are waiting for the final inflation reading for Marchwith the consensus being for a confirmation of the preliminary to1.3% on harmonized year. At the first trades, the index Ftse Mib records a sharp decline of 1.59%, at 33,415 points. The red performance of Stellantis on the day of the meeting stands out on the price list: -2.64%.
In Europe, London lost 1.32%, Paris 1.61% and Frankfurt 1.31% in the wake of doubts about the strength of the Chinese economy and fears about geopolitical tensions and a further postponement of the rate cut in the US.
Chinese stock markets crash close to intraday lows despite the first quarter GDP growth of 5.3%, well above the 4.8-5% expected by economists: the Shanghai Composite index drops 1.65%, to 3,007.07 points , while that of Shenzhen suffered a collapse of 3.77%, to 1,638.44.
