Task force to be formed for development of tourism in Goa: Goyal

Panaji (Best Hindu News): Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has assured to set up a task force to promote tourism in Goa. Goyal was interacting with industrialists in Goa on Saturday. The event was organized by the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Industries Minister of Goa Mauvin Godinho also participated in it.
Goyal urged the state government to frame policies promoting homestay tourism, providing a unique experience to the visitors. He has assured the state to form a small task force to promote tourism in Goa. He underlined its positive impact on the economy.
Commerce and Industry Minister appreciated the significant infrastructure development of Goa in the last nine years. He said that the Union Government has empowered the citizens in the last nine years.
He described Goa as an ideal region for the entertainment industry and said that development of non-polluting industries in the state should be encouraged. He assured full assistance to the state government in this direction.
He also highlighted the potential of Goa to become a hub for soft skills industry. Additionally, tourism has been identified as a major sector with the potential to transform the state’s economy. Goyal envisioned the expansion of Goa as a pharma hub and stressed the need to explore opportunities to facilitate this growth.
Chief Minister Sawant while addressing the gathering highlighted the remarkable progress made by Goa in various sectors in the last nine years and proposed setting up of Medical Device Manufacturing Cluster. He appealed for help from the Center in this work.
Dr. Sawant announced that the Manohar International Airport at Mopa will start cargo operations soon. This will greatly benefit the pharmaceutical industry.
Transport Minister Godinho, citing connectivity facilities in Goa through ports, airports, railways and roads, urged the central government to develop Goa as a logistics and warehousing hub.
