The international taxi service inDrive, founded in 2012 in Yakutsk, will stop working in Russia. The Russian service team has launched a new application with similar features called Drivee. It is reported by TASS with reference to a source familiar with the activities of the company.
“The Russian branch left the contour of the international ride-hailing service inDrive in June 2022 and, de facto, began to develop independently. In May 2023, the Russian service team decided to completely restart the business under the new name Drivee, ”the agency quotes the interlocutor as saying.
As the interlocutor of TASS clarified, a part of Russian inDrive users has already received an offer to download Drivee and transfer their data to it. The timing of the completion of inDrive in Russia is not specified, but after the full launch of Drivee, it will not be possible to order a trip in the inDrive application.
The Drivee app is now available for download from the iOS (AppStore) and Android (Google Play) app stores. The application developer, according to the card, is Indels. It follows from the SPARK data that since March 2023, Indels owns 100% of the authorized capital of the inDrive legal entity in Russia Softforming LLC.
Despite the fact that the old functions from the inDrive application will work in the new service, Drivee will temporarily abandon freight traffic, focusing on the development of urban services in Russia. Jobs of employees of the Russian division, according to the interlocutor of the agency, the company retained. In addition, the team was expanded in the Moscow and Yakutsk offices.
Officially, inDrive did not announce the termination of work in Russia. However, in May 2022, the founder and CEO of inDriver (that was the name of the inDrive service before the rebranding last year) Arsen Tomsky informedthat after the start of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine, the company decided to transfer part of its employees to Kazakhstan, Cyprus and other countries. According to him, at the end of February, the share of the Russian Federation in the total volume of inDrive trips was 7%.
In April 2023, RBC, citing sources in the IT market informedthat inDrive transferred the main Russian legal entity “Software Development Center” to the Kazakh structure “Indels”. Under the name Indels, the company planned to provide urban and international travel services in Russia and the CIS.
