Tesla can install complete eco system in India

Tesla in India: American industrialist and CEO of electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla, Elon Musk is going to visit India soon. He himself gave this information by tweeting on social media. After this, the clouds of speculation over Tesla’s entry in the country dissipated. The company itself has made its official announcement. Now you may soon see Tesla cars running on the roads. Earlier it was being told that Tesla is going to set up an EV manufacturing plant in India. But now a big update has come out in it. According to media reports, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that Tesla is not going to just set up a plant in India but is going to create a complete eco system. This means that Tesla will not only manufacture its cars, but will also source as many components as possible locally.

What will be the benefit to the country?

Tesla is trying to tap the entire South Asian market by manufacturing cars in India. On the other hand, it has recently received a huge blow from China’s electric car company BYD. BYD has overtaken Tesla to become the largest car selling company. India is the fifth largest automobile market in the world. There is huge potential for electric cars in this. Whereas, big investment will be made by this company in India. It is understood that Elon Musk can announce an investment of 2 to 3 billion dollars during his visit to India. But, if the company will only manufacture cars then people will get jobs only in the factory. Whereas, creation of eco system will open up huge employment opportunities. Along with this, many companies will get work orders by manufacturing components locally. Besides, the campaign of self-reliant India will also get a boost.

How Tesla’s path became easier

Tesla had demanded tax exemption on import of electric cars. After long meetings, the Government of India has launched the new EV policy. In this, tax exemption has been given on import of EV. However, the condition to avail the benefit of this scheme is that the company will have to start manufacturing its cars in India within 3 years.
