At the end of the year, a favorite pastime of many is trying to predict what will happen next year. One of the world’s most famous prophets, the Danish Saxo Bank, has published ten “shocking predictions” for 2024. Potential horror stories include the abandonment of capitalism in the United States and an obesity pandemic across the planet. True, there is a nuance: previously, the prophecies of this bank did not tend to come true.

Saxo Bank’s predictions are related to the United States – the fate of the overseas giant leaves no one indifferent. Firstly, according to experts, the United States faces the “end of capitalism” in its traditional sense. “The US government will be forced to increase fiscal spending amid the 2024 elections to avoid economic problems and social unrest,” the bank said. Secondly, experts have clear predictions regarding the upcoming elections in the fall of 2024 – in their opinion, the Kennedy era will begin again in the United States: this time we are talking about Robert Kennedy Jr. “This will resonate with frustrated Democratic Party supporters and Donald Trump lovers alike. The new political era in the United States will begin with a sharp turn away from plutocracy as voters demand an end to growing inequality, injustice and an end to endless wars,” the forecast says.

Another serious problem that threatens society is the obesity pandemic. The concern is not new: for several years in a row, nutritionists have been saying that the problem of excess weight is becoming more and more acute. However, this time we are talking about the harm from miracle pills: new anti-obesity drugs based on glucagon-like peptide-1, which has already been dubbed the “satiety hormone,” have already been developed. Experts fear that if a person can easily take a “slimming pill,” he will completely abandon the idea of ​​exercising or following a reasonable diet. As a result, the effect will be the opposite: believing in the magic of instant weight loss, people will gain more and more excess weight. In addition, manufacturers of miracle pills simply cannot keep up with the growing demand.

Another forecast concerns the economic policy of Europe – according to the bank’s experts, in 2024 the European Commission will introduce a wealth tax of 2%, which will be a serious shock for the luxury goods market.

There are no prophecies directly related to Russia here. There is no reason to take such predictions seriously. A year earlier, specialists from the same bank predicted to us that in 2023, French President Emmanuel Macron would resign in the image and likeness of Charles de Gaulle and give way to Marie Le Pen, the EU would create a united armed force, because it could no longer count on US patronage, Britain will hold a referendum on no-Brexit (because more than 80% of young Britons regret leaving the EU), and OPEC+, China and India will leave the IMF and agree to trade in a new reserve currency, and Japan’s GDP will collapse significantly. As we see, there are only 26 days left until the end of 2023, and none of the above has happened yet. So there is reason to hope that the nightmares promised for 2024 will not come true either.
