The decision of the Confindustria wise men is awaited. Marenghi leaves: “Now unity”. We’re heading towards a three-way race

Admit all three candidates to the second phase of the race, the one that ends with the General Council on March 21 and the vote to choose the president designate, or strictly enforce the threshold of 20% of the assembly votes. This is the dilemma of the wise men of Confindustria on the day in which one of the aspiring presidents, Alberto Marenghi from Mantua, deputy to the current number one Carlo Bonomi, retires. An obligatory choice given the lack of consensus compared to the other three. Marenghi does not give any indication of his vote, but launches an appeal: «We need a signal of unity and compactness. Recomposition and convergence become our priorities.”
An indication that will be followed by the other candidates? Difficult. The three remaining, the Ligurian patron of Erg and president of Sole 24 Ore, Edoardo Garronethe Emilian Emanuele OrsiniBonomi’s deputy and wood entrepreneur, and the other Ligurian Antonio Gozziat the head of the Duferco group and Federacciai, are in different situations but all determined to run.
And it is precisely for this reason that, having concluded the round of consultations with associations and territories, i three essays Mariella Enoc, Andrea Moltrasio and Ilaria Vescovi, in a letter sent yesterday to the General Council and the presidents, they took until the end of the week. The time necessary to “evaluate with particular attention” the validity of the resolutions of the various associations that guarantee the candidates support in the assembly.
