The founder and CEO of Pikabu Khryashchev announced his departure from the company

The founder and CEO of the Pikabu portal, Maxim Khryashchev, announced that he was leaving the company after 14 years of work. According to him, now he has nothing to do with the operational management of the project.

“As of this week, I am no longer involved in operations management at Peekaboo. It was a wonderful 14 years – the path from an apartment startup without money in the early years to an audience of 30 million people a month, ”Mr. Khryashchev said on his Facebook page (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned).

Maxim Khryashchev does not disclose the reasons for his departure from the project.

Mr. Khryashchev launched Peekaboo in 2009, he has led the project since its inception. Most of the portal content is made up of user life stories, memes, videos and anecdotes. According to the SimilarWeb resource, in August the audience of the Pikabu.ru website amounted to 130 million visits. Almost 80% are users from Russia. The portal ranks 333rd in terms of the popularity of resources in the global ranking, and 28th in the Russian one. SimilarWeb estimates the revenue of the resource at about $10-15 million per year.

In September 2022, the owner of Pikabu changed – then the portal was acquired by the company of the leader of the New People party, State Duma deputy Alexei Nechaev. The amount of the transaction could have amounted to approximately 1-2 billion rubles. Altair Media JSC became the owner of a 100% stake in Pikabu LLC. But even after that, Maxim Khryashchev continued to be the general director of the project.
