Moldova reserves the right to choose regarding the resumption of gas supplies from Russia. This was stated by the Minister of Energy of Moldova, Viktor Parlikov. According to him, the authorities are ready to purchase Russian gas again if Gazprom (MOEX: GAZP) will offer a “good price”.

“I do not rule out that Gazprom will look for an opportunity to supply gas to Moldova and the right bank, but at better prices. Now we have a choice. And if they offer us a good price and if this price is not associated with any political conditions, political risks in relations with the EU, then it is possible,” Mr. Parlikov said in an interview Newsmaker.

October 2 Victor Parlikov announcedthat Moldova bought gas on the European market at a lower price and no longer plans to purchase it from Gazprom. Following this, the press service of the Russian company statedthat they receive daily requests from Moldovagaz for supplies.

As Kommersant wrote in September, the Moldovan authorities proposed to Gazprom to conclude a settlement agreement, according to which the Russian company and its structures would write off the debts of Moldovagaz. As part of the agreement, Chisinau guarantees the absence of lawsuits in connection with a reduction in supplies by $160 million, and will also pay Gazprom $153.57 million in compensation.
