The Ministry of Agriculture does not intend to abolish the export duty on grain, but is ready to adjust it, said the head of the department, Dmitry Patrushev, at an extended meeting of the State Duma Committee on Agrarian Issues. His words leads Union of Grain Exporters.
Mr. Patrushev assured that the authorities will try to reduce the financial burden on grain producers. He did not specify how exactly the duty could be adjusted. “We will not cancel the duty, but nevertheless we are ready to adjust it based on their current realities. We did this at the beginning of the last agricultural season, and we will do this at the beginning of this agricultural season,” the minister said.
From June 2023, the base price for calculating the export duty on wheat was increased to 17 thousand from 15 thousand rubles. for 1 ton, for barley and corn – up to 15,875 thousand rubles. Financial Times sources reportedthat the European Commission will in the coming days introduce a duty on grain from Russia and Belarus in the amount of €95 (about 9.5 thousand rubles) per ton. According to the publication, a similar fee will be established for oilseeds and their processed products. Kremlin promised analyze this information and draw conclusions.
