The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed to ban the import of cars from friendly countries under simplified requirements from June 1, transmits department press office.
“A draft resolution has been prepared, providing for from June 1, 2023 <...> a phased return to the current requirements of the technical regulations,” the statement said.
It is proposed to make mandatory the compliance of all vehicles produced in the Russian Federation with an environmental standard of at least Euro 2. From November 2023, it is proposed that vehicles be required to be equipped with an anti-lock brake system (ABS).
On March 5, 2022, the Russian government approved a list of unfriendly countries in response to Western sanctions. The list includes Australia, Albania, Andorra, United Kingdom, including Jersey, Anguilla, British Virgin Islands, Gibraltar, Member States of the European Union, Iceland, Canada, Liechtenstein, Micronesia, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, Republic of Korea, San Marino, North Macedonia, Singapore, USA, Taiwan (China), Ukraine, Montenegro, Switzerland, Japan. All of them imposed sanctions against Russia in connection with the start of a special operation in Ukraine.
Friendly countries, in particular, include Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Armenia.
