The talented employees of HUL are in high demand in the FMCG sector. Startup companies and direct-to-consumer firms keep trying to attract top talent to the company. K Sudarshan, MD of executive search firm EMS Partners India, says that companies like HUL have become talent hunting grounds. Not only MFCG companies but also consumer facing D2C brands. In such a situation, companies like HUL have to constantly update themselves to retain their talent. In recent years, many top executives of HUL have moved to other FMCG companies.
What is the company doing to stop the talent
Two years ago, Sudhir Sitapati, executive director, goods and refreshments at HUL, joined Godrej Consumer Products. Similarly, Geetika Mehta became the head of Hershey India last year after working for 18 years in HUL. Last year, Colgate Palmolive appointed Prabha Narasimhan as its MD. She was the Executive Director at HUL. However, HUL says it is taking various measures to retain its top talent. The company said in its annual report that its attrition rate is lower than the FMCG industry benchmark. In the last financial year, HUL’s sales grew by 16 per cent to Rs 58,154 crore, while profit grew by 13 per cent to Rs 9,962 crore.
