In 2024, the number of early hotel bookings for the period from May 1 to August 31 increased five times compared to last year, according to Yandex data (MOEX: YNDX) Travel.” The reasons include increased tourist confidence in plans, as well as an increase in the number of domestic tourist destinations.
As the study showed, on average, Yandex Travel users make early hotel reservations 205 days in advance. This is 11 days earlier than in 2023 (then preparations began 194 days in advance). Previously, hotels were booked for the summer in the following regions:
- Irkutsk region (hotels are booked there on average 226 days before the trip);
- Karelia (215 days);
- Crimea (for 214 days);
- Krasnodar Territory (for 212 days);
- Vladimir region (for 207 days);
- Altai (in 207 days);
- Murmansk region (for 207 days);
- Dagestan (206.5 days);
- Rostov region (for 204 days);
- Stavropol Territory (in 199 days).
At the same time, the most popular destinations in the Russian Federation for the summer are:
- Krasnodar region (average cost per night – 8980 rubles);
- St. Petersburg and Leningrad region (RUB 7,365);
- Moscow and Moscow region (RUB 7,020);
- Kaliningrad region (RUB 8,660);
- Crimea (8650 rub.);
- Tatarstan (6545 rub.);
- Stavropol Territory (6515 rubles);
- Dagestan (8090 rub.);
- Nizhny Novgorod region (6240 rubles);
- Rostov region (5410 rubles).
The Siberian Federal District leads the ranking of districts for early bookings, where hotels are booked on average 224 days before a trip (this is 24 days earlier than in 2023). Reservation period in other districts:
- Far Eastern Federal District (booked 223 days in advance);
- Southern Federal District (for 211 days);
- North Caucasus Federal District (for 203 days);
- Ural Federal District (200 days);
- Northwestern Federal District (198 days);
- Central Federal District (for 192 days);
- Volga Federal District (for 190 days).
Yandex Travel clarifies that among foreign countries, the least amount of time was needed for bookings in Uzbekistan (135 days), and the longest in Abkhazia (218 days).
As Kommersant reported, the gradual adaptation of Russians’ demand ensured an increase in foreign summer holiday bookings by one and a half to three times. Turkey, the UAE, Egypt and Thailand remain the sales leaders, although positive dynamics are also visible in some European destinations. Experts believe that based on the results of 2024, the growth in the outbound flow will most likely be modest – by 10–15%.
