Vistara reduced the number of flights, passengers will be affected

In view of the low number of pilots, the company has decided to cancel up to 10 percent of its flights this entire month. In such a situation, problems may arise for people traveling by air. They may have to face expensive rent. At least 350 flights are operated daily by the company. But now, Vistara is considering reducing 25-30 flights daily.

More than 300 flights were to be operated

Vistara was to operate more than 300 flights daily in the summer schedule starting from March 31. A company spokesperson said in a statement on Sunday that we are cautiously reducing our operations to about 25-30 flights per day. This is about 10 percent of our daily operating capacity. This will take us back to the same level of flight operations as at the end of February, 2024, and provide much-needed flexibility and buffer in rosters. According to the company, these cancellations are mostly done on domestic networks and well in advance to minimize customer inconvenience. The company said all affected passengers have already been re-accommodated on other flights, as applicable.

What does the CEO of the company say

Earlier this week, due to ill health of many pilots, the company had to cancel a large number of flights. On Friday, Vistara Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Vinod Kannan said that the main reason for the disruption in flights is the increased roster. The airline will review the current roster system after discussions with pilots. He stressed that there has been no unusual increase in the number of passengers. The Tata group airline, which is undergoing the merger process with Air India, has temporarily reduced flight operations to ensure adequate availability of pilots. The company expects the situation to become normal by May. According to the airline, a tight roster with overutilization of pilots is the main reason for the recent disruptions. There are also concerns among a section of pilots about the new contract, which will also lead to a revision in salaries.
