On March 1, the income limits for working pensioners and pensioners who have not reached the general retirement age change. Seniors will be able to supplement their benefits by over PLN 240 more, ZUS spokesman Paweł Żebrowski told PAP.

ZUS reminds that people receiving early retirement or disability benefits, when taking up or continuing employment, must remember that additional earnings may affect the amount of the benefit they receive. If the revenue exceeds certain thresholds – 70%. and 130 percent average monthly salary, ZUS may reduce or suspend the benefit paid.

“Earning limits change every three months. From March 2024 to May 2024, the lower amount of safe extra work will be PLN 5,278.30 gross,” Paweł Żebrowski, ZUS spokesman, told PAP. He added that this is over PLN 240 more than before, and earnings up to this amount per month will not result in a reduction in the pension paid by ZUS.

“In order for the Company not to withhold the payment of the benefit, the additional monthly income for the next three months, starting from March, should not be higher than PLN 9,802.50 gross,” Żebrowski said.

If the pensioner exceeds 70%. average monthly salary announced for the fourth quarter of 2023 (PLN 5,278.30), but will not earn more than 130%. (PLN 9,802.50), ZUS will reduce his benefits by the amount exceeded, but not more than by the amount of the maximum reduction.

The amount of the maximum reduction from March is PLN 890.63 – for old-age and disability pensions due to total incapacity for work, PLN 668.01 for pensions due to partial inability to work and PLN 757.08 for family pensions to which one person is entitled.

Żebrowski emphasized that earnings limits do not apply to retirees who have reached the general retirement age (60/65 years). “The exception are seniors for whom ZUS increased their calculated pension to the amount of the minimum benefit (from March PLN 1,780.96 gross). Then, if the income from work exceeds the amount of the increase to the minimum pension, the benefit for a given period will be paid in a lower amount, i.e. without any subsidy to the minimum pension,” added the spokesman.

Żebrowski added that people who receive pensions for war invalids, pensions for military invalids or survivors’ pensions can earn extra money without any restrictions.

ZUS also reminds that people who have a fixed pension due to reaching the standard retirement age, but receive a survivor’s pension from ZUS, which is more favorable in terms of amount, do not have to worry about income limits. (PAP)
