Stating that, as Malatya Metropolitan Municipality, they always support the citizens, Mayor Gürkan said, “We use the cheapest water among the 30 Metropolitan Municipalities. Esenlik markets sell products with zero profit. MEGSAŞ still sells bread with negative profit. MOTAŞ also operates with a minus in transportation. “During this transition period, we will make a 25 percent discount on water without causing any major inconvenience to our citizens,” he said.

Stating that a decision will be taken at the first Metropolitan Municipality Council Meeting of November to implement the new regulation regarding water, Mayor Gürkan said, “In our previous council meetings, we made a decision that the increase would be made according to WPI-CPI. When WPI-CPI was high, there was a problem in this regard. We will bring it to the agenda at the next Parliament Meeting. We planned a 25 percent discount. Despite the increasing costs, we made such a decision by acting with a citizen-oriented municipality approach. Congratulations.
