Industry sources spoke to by Dünya Newspaper draw attention to the fact that the investors who came in the last week are generally over the age of 40. Stating that the investors who received their compensation have started to open accounts in the stock market, stockbrokers express that they expect this interest to increase even more in the coming period.
According to the number of investors and accounts announced by the Central Registry Agency (MKK), the number of stock investors, which was 3 million 946 thousand 544 in the previous week, rose to 4 million 531 thousand 786 with an increase of 585 thousand 242 people.
In the same period, the total number of investors increased from 30 million 388 thousand 116 to 30 million 504 thousand 817. While the total number of accounts increased from 62 million 34 thousand 894 to 62 million 503 thousand 481, the number of accounts with balance increased from 9 million 56 thousand 639 to 9 million 774 thousand 349. The value of securities kept in dematerialized form with MKK reached TL 7.22 trillion.
Receiving compensation, EYT ran to the stock market
EYT members made up a significant portion of nearly 600 thousand investors who came to the stock market during the week of April 14. Stating that this momentum will continue as the number of those who receive their salary and compensation increases, stockbrokers state that EYT members who see the potential in the stock market are interested in the stock market and that public offerings contribute greatly to this.
While an investor record has recently been broken both in the stock market and in public offerings, it is thought that a large part of these investors are EYT members who are new to the stock market.
EYT details in public offerings
Borsa İstanbul, which completed last year with 40 public offerings, entered 2023 rapidly. While 11 public offerings have been made to date, there are many companies waiting in line. The EYT regulation, which is a 24-year-old problem, entered into force on March 3, 2023, after it was published in the Official Gazette.
It is observed that the number of investors increased sharply in the public offerings that took place after this date. Especially after the enactment of EYT, we see that more than 1 million investors participated in the public offerings. The presence of a new investor mass is felt in the last public offerings.
It is noteworthy that investor records have been broken especially in the public offerings made since the middle of March. While 4 million 555 thousand 653 investors participated in the 7 public offerings held until the middle of March, 6 million 510 thousand 645 participated in the last 4 public offerings after the enactment of EYT.
