A large part of the Republic’s achievements, for a total of 2 trillion liras in the last 21 years, ceased to be public property and fell into the hands of local and foreign companies. The government, which earned 1 trillion 248 billion lira from the sale of shares and 550 billion lira from the complete transfer of facilities and businesses, started real estate business when there were no institutions left to sell. State-owned hotels and social facilities were sold for 20.8 billion lira. Approximately 147 billion lira was obtained in 21 years from the sale of properties such as land, field and factory land. According to the calculation made from the Privatization Administration data, between 2003 and March 2024, the government transferred more than 5 thousand state-owned real estate to private ownership.
Real estate sales have accelerated since 2021, when the economic crisis deepened. Land sales, which were 22 million dollars in 2020, increased to 187 million dollars in 2021 and 441 million dollars in 2022. In 2023, the election year, sales remained at $179 million.
Meanwhile, the Urban Transformation Directorate of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change put up 826 various lands in 47 provinces for sale. Auctions will be held on April 24-25-26 at 10:30. The Ministry announced that it will give a 20 percent discount for cash payments.
