Economic activity in qurban markets is 80 billion liras

There are only a few days left until the Feast of Sacrifice.

President of the Turkish Butchers, Breeders, Meat and Meat Products Tradesmen and Craftsmen Federation, Osman Yardimci stated that Turkey ranks first among the European Union (EU) countries in terms of the number of 17 million cattle and 56.3 million sheep and goats.

Pointing out that the number of animals to be slaughtered in Turkey during Eid al-Adha is higher than the number of sheep and goats in many countries, Yardimci said that it is expected to slaughter nearly 3 million animals this year.

The assistant mentioned that 2 million 100 thousand sheep and 850 thousand cattle were slaughtered last year during the Eid al-Adha.

Referring to the establishment of sacrificial sales areas in the cities with a few days before the Eid al-Adha, Yolcu said that the price of sacrifice is 7 thousand liras for small cattle and 80 thousand liras for bovine animals.

Explaining that the price of the animal can increase or decrease according to its weight, Lider said, “An economic activity of 80 billion liras is expected in the sacrificial sales areas this year.” The assistant said that after Saudi Arabia, the highest number of victims were slaughtered in Turkey.

Demanding that those who will receive sacrifices check the animal’s passport, ear tags, and the inter-provincial veterinary health report for those coming from other provinces, assisting said that these documents are obligatory for animals in the sales areas determined by the municipality.

The helper urged those who shop for sacrificial offerings to be wary of counterfeit money. Pointing out that injuries are frequently encountered during the slaughter of sacrifices,İlker recommended that those who are going to have their animals slaughtered prefer expert cutters and the slaughtering areas of the municipalities.
