According to the “Electricity Market Sector Report” of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority for January, 29.2 percent of licensed electricity production is hydroelectric, 21.8 percent is imported coal, 14 percent is wind, 13.2 percent is natural gas and 12.3 percent was provided from lignite power plants.

Turkey’s licensed electricity production increased by 8.8 percent in January compared to the same month last year, reaching 28 million 549 thousand 38 megawatt hours.

The amount of billed electricity consumption increased by 7 percent in the same period and reached 22 million 755 thousand 71 megawatt hours.

40.8 percent of the consumption was made by industry, 29.1 percent by residences, 26.3 percent by the public and private services sector and other subscribers. The share of lighting was recorded as 2.5 percent, and the share of agricultural activities was recorded as 1.3 percent.

NUMBER OF CONSUMERS AND INSTALLED CAPACITY INCREASED

The number of electricity consumers increased by 2.14 percent in January compared to the same month last year, reaching 49 million 740 thousand 80.

During this period, there was an increase of 14.4 percent in the number of residential consumers, 9.3 percent in the number of public and private services sector and other consumers, 4 percent in the number of industrial consumers and 1.6 percent in the number of lighting consumers. There was a 43.7 percent decrease in the number of agricultural activity consumers.

Turkey’s licensed electricity installed power increased by 1.25 percent in this period and reached 96 thousand 405 megawatts.

Natural gas accounts for 26.2 percent of the installed capacity, dam hydroelectricity accounts for 24.5 percent, wind energy accounts for 12.2 percent, imported coal accounts for 10.8 percent, lignite power plants account for 10.6 percent, and the remaining portion is It created facilities that produce electricity from other energy sources.
