From July 1, the minimum remuneration for work increases to PLN 3,600, and the hourly rate to PLN 23.50. This is the second increase in the minimum wage this year. Currently, it is higher by 19.6 percent. compared to the lowest salary that was in force in 2022.

Pursuant to the Act on the minimum wage for work, if the total consumer price index forecast for the next year is at least 105 percent, – two dates for changing the amount of the minimum wage and the amount of the minimum hourly rate are set: from 1 January and from 1 July.

From January 2023, the minimum wage increased to PLN 3,490 gross, and from July 1, it is PLN 3,600. At the same time, the minimum hourly rate increased from 1 January to PLN 22.80 and from 1 July to PLN 23.50.

According to the estimates of the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, from July 2023 the minimum wage will be higher by 19.6 percent. compared to the lowest wage that was in force in 2022. In turn, compared to 2015, the minimum wage increased by 105.7 percent. In 2015, it amounted to PLN 1,750.

The ministry emphasizes that the minimum wage plays a large role in reducing poverty and reducing income inequalities, and protects employees from working at lower rates.

From July, along with the minimum wage, other benefits calculated on its basis will also increase, including allowance for night work, remuneration for downtime, severance pay for collective redundancies.

On June 13, the Council of Ministers adopted proposals for the minimum remuneration for work and the minimum hourly rate, which are to apply in 2024. It was proposed that the lowest salary would be PLN 4,242 gross from January, and increase to PLN 4,300 gross from July. According to the proposal, the minimum hourly rate for certain civil law contracts would increase to PLN 27.70 from January 1, and PLN 28.10 from July 1.

Now the proposal for the minimum wage in 2024 will be dealt with by the Social Dialogue Council. If representatives of employees, employers and the government do not agree on a common position, the government will set the minimum wage by way of a regulation of the Council of Ministers, which is announced by September 15 in the Journal of Laws (PAP).
