Green onion price increased by 54 percent in January

Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) announced the products with the highest increase or decrease in retail prices in January compared to the previous month, together with their prices and change rates.

Accordingly, the retail prices of 142 of the 242 products included in the ITO’s Istanbul Wage Livelihood Index increased, while the prices of 35 products decreased, while the prices of 65 products remained unchanged.

In January, green onions, which are in the group of fresh dried vegetables and fruits, were the product with the highest price increase with 54.48 percent.

OTHER ITEMS THAT HAVE HIGHEST INCREASED IN PRICE ARE AS FOLLOWS:

In the transportation and communication expenses group, 39.84 percent of the city ferry fare, 39.37 percent of the taxi fare, 38.88 percent of the health and personal care expenses group, x-ray shooting fee, culture and education and entertainment expenses 38.61 percent. Medical examination fee with 33.09 percent from magazines, health and personal care expenses group, and 33.06 percent intercity bus ticket fee from transportation and communication expenses group.

NATURAL GAS DROPPED 11.85 PERCENT

In January 2023, the price of natural gas, which is included in the housing expenditures group, decreased by 11.85 percent and became the product whose price decreased the most.

Other products with a decrease in prices include women’s sweaters with 8.69 percent from the women’s clothing subgroup, oranges with 6.03 percent from the food expenditures group, men’s coats with 5.82 percent from the clothing expenditures group, men’s shirts with 4.26 percent, cultural education and entertainment expenditures group with 4.08 percent, audio and video system and men’s suits with 3.45 percent from the clothing expenditures group.
