Considered the Davos of Russia and hosted 16 thousand participants from 130 countries last year, St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) will be held on 14-17 June this year. Before the Forum, an information event was held in Istanbul, where Turkish business world executives were invited.

Stating that the development of relations with Turkey is one of the priority and most important areas of Russia’s foreign policy, SPIEF CEO Alexey Valkov stated that Turkish enterprises can fill the gaps in the Russian market. Emphasizing that with the withdrawal of Western companies from Russia, Turkish enterprises evaluated the deficiencies in the Russian market, Valkov pointed out that there are opportunities in all areas from production to technology, from trade to infrastructure. Stating that 33 Turkish companies have invested in Russia in the last year, Valkov said, “It takes 3.5 hours from Saint Petersburg to Istanbul with THY. This year, we invite Turkish companies to the forum not only as participants, but also as strategic partners.”

One of the participants, IC Holding CEO Murad Bayar, said, “We know the new investment projections. Maybe not in 6 months, but we are negotiating for infrastructure investments in the region again,” he said.
