He said that they started the E-Togetherness campaign in order to contribute to the development of the earthquake zone.

Minister Bolat, prepared in collaboration with the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) under the leadership of the Ministry of Commerce, in order to revitalize trade in cities affected by earthquakes, centered in Kahramanmaraş.

“Earthquake Zone E-Togetherness”

attended the launch of the campaign. Speaking here, Bolat stated that, in addition to the work carried out by the Ministry of Commerce, the ‘Earthquake Assistance Mobilization in E-commerce (E-Mobilization) was launched with the participation of a total of 75 businesses, and said:

“Within the framework of the solidarity mobilization, 4 million 716 thousand 579 products worth a total of 397 million 76 thousand 249 Turkish Liras were sold through e-commerce platforms to help the earthquake region.”

“We are launching the e-togetherness campaign to support 11 provinces affected by the earthquake.”

Stating that they started the “Together Better with Electronic Commerce (E-Togetherness)” campaign to support the 11 provinces affected by the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, Bolat continued his words as follows:

“E-commerce companies participating in the campaign to our tradesmen and merchants who are located in the earthquake zone but have not previously engaged in e-commerce activities; 1 to 3 months of commission-free or low-commission sales support, e-commerce infrastructure, advertising, marketing and visibility support on the platform. They will contribute to the revitalization of trade in the earthquake region by providing support such as granting support, carrying out activities to facilitate the export of geographically indicated products belonging to the region, and providing e-commerce training support to both tradesmen and traders and disadvantaged groups that are not tradesmen or traders (such as housewives and disabled individuals). “

Bolat noted that with the E-Togetherness campaign, they aim to build a sustainable e-commerce ecosystem in the earthquake region, to introduce national wealth to the international arena, and to enable tradesmen and SMEs who have not yet met e-commerce to introduce their products to brand new markets.

“The share of e-commerce in general trade has exceeded 20 percent for the first time.”

TOBB President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that perhaps the most important activity that can be done for the rapid recovery of the earthquake zone will be the activities that will directly affect production and commercial life, and said, “In this sense, we must make the most efficient use of the opportunities offered by technology and the digital age. According to the latest data announced by our Ministry of Commerce “E-commerce volume reached 652 billion lira in the first 6 months of 2023. The share of e-commerce in general trade exceeded 20 percent for the first time. This means that consumers now prefer the digital environment,” he said.

Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed out that the campaign will continue for 3 months and said, “20 of our E-Commerce Council Member companies will provide various supports to our local producers and sellers in the earthquake zone. With the campaign, our e-commerce companies will be among the companies that are in the earthquake zone and will sell on e-commerce platforms.” “It promises that no commission or service fee will be charged for 3 months. In addition, advertising support will be provided to the sellers and their products in the region to stand out across the country and increase their sales volumes,” he said.

Emphasizing that during the campaign period, priority will be given to the sale of products prepared by women entrepreneurs and geographically indicated products, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “These products will be highlighted with a separate label. Thus, our consumers from 81 provinces will be able to access these products more easily. Our e-commerce companies also guarantee the purchase of local products within the scope of this campaign.” “In addition, food package support will be provided for those in need,” he said.
