Minister of Commerce Ömer Bolat opened Türk Eximbank’s new headquarters building in Ümraniye: Good news of new support for exporters

Türk Eximbank, which provided 42 billion dollars of support to exporters last year, aims to increase this amount to 50 billion dollars this year. Stating that they are working on new loan packages, Minister of Commerce Ömer Bolat announced that Eximbank’s capital has been increased for the third time in 7 months since July, reaching 35 billion 700 million liras. Minister Bolat emphasized that a capital increase of 11.8 billion lira was made and thus an additional loan opportunity of 120 billion lira will be provided. Speaking at the opening of Türk Eximbank’s new headquarters building in Ümraniye, the Minister of Commerce said that the transition to the new building meant a 50 percent increase in the bank’s human resources in 10 years.

OUR TARGET IS 1.5 BILLION $ DAILY EXPORT

Evaluating the latest point reached in export figures, Ömer Bolat said, “We are now exporting one billion dollars per day, hopefully our goal is to reach average figures of 1.5 billion dollars per day by 2030. “We will do this together with our exporters,” he said. Stating that they have met with ministers of nearly 100 countries during their 9-month term of office so far, Bolat stated that they have seen the desire to do more business, invest and trade with Turkey from almost every region. Stating that export-led growth is the main motto of the Medium Term Program, Ömer Bolat said, “We closed the year 2023 with 255.8 billion dollars of goods exports, and as of yesterday, we reached 257.6 billion dollars, that is, we increased our exports by 1.8 billion dollars in 50 days. “We will increase the number of exporters to 150 thousand by the end of this year,” he said.

17 THOUSAND COMPANIES BENEFIT FROM FINANCING

Minister Bolat informed that nearly 17 thousand companies, 85 percent of which are SMEs, have benefited from Eximbank loans and said, “Eximbank loans are not loans given to three or five large groups.” Stating that they are working closely with Turkish Eximbank and Export Development Joint Stock Company (İGE AŞ) to enable exporters to obtain low-cost financing, Ömer Bolat said: “We have implemented a new pre-financing model together with İGE AŞ. Our exporters whose support applications are deemed appropriate will be given priority evaluation within the framework of the pre-financing protocol. Thus, they will receive support from HDI in terms of guarantee. “The problem of our exporters who have collateral problems will be eliminated.”

Rediscount limit increased by 10 times

Emphasizing that Turkey has shown a strong growth performance in the last 20 years, Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance Osman Çelik stated that Türk Eximbank has played an important role by establishing mechanisms that will direct the financing of high technology and value-added exports in line with the targets in the Medium Term Program (MTP). Reminding that they are working together with the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) to increase exporters’ access to finance, Çelik said, “We increased the daily rediscount credit limit, which was 300 million lira in July, to 3 billion lira.”

3.7 billion dollars for green transformation

Turk Eximbank General Manager Ali Güney emphasized that the new headquarters building is a showcase of the strategic transformation and restructuring efforts they initiated in the bank. Stating that they have started to work with Eximbank’s other loan guarantees, Güney noted that they have implemented credit monitoring and early warning systems in the bank to ensure this. Güney also stated that they provided 3.7 billion dollars for green transformation projects.
