Minister Yumaklı, taking into account the possible changes that will occur in the consumption habits of the people with Ramadan, said that the companies that produce and sell food products such as bakery products, pastry-dessert products, bread, sugar-confectionery products, meat-meat products, milk-dairy products, especially those whose consumption is likely to increase. Pointing out that businesses focus on official controls, he gave the following information:

“We carried out the necessary official controls, especially hygiene controls, especially in places of mass consumption where iftar is held. We checked the expiration date and label information of the foods during official controls on workplaces where packages containing various foods under the name of Ramadan package/package were sold and distributed, and if necessary, we took samples from these products.

In this context, we carried out nearly 104 thousand inspections throughout Türkiye during Ramadan. As a result of these inspections, we imposed an administrative fine of approximately 45 million liras for 1022 transactions and filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor’s office for 13 businesses. “These penalties were given mainly for spoiled foods, expired foods, businesses operating without registration, violation of hygiene rules and non-compliance with the Turkish Food Codex.”

Pointing out that inspections have been increased with the approach of Eid al-Fitr, Yumaklı emphasized that the teams are sensitive to official controls for all food businesses, especially sugar and sugary products, pastry products, bakery products, dessert production and sales places.
