7th Pay Commission: March 31 is going to be a very happy day for government employees. Employees are going to get increased DA and HRA for their salary and pension of retired people. The dearness allowance of employees was increased by four percent by the central and state governments. After this, now the total dearness allowance of employees and pensioners has become 50 percent. Let us tell you that banks will remain open on this Sunday i.e. 31st March. March closing work will be done on this day, however, banks will remain closed for the general public. In such a situation, it is understood that the employees’ money will arrive on March 30 or 31. This month, along with salary, employees will get two months increased dearness allowance in the form of arrears.

How much will the salary increase?

The Central Government has increased dearness allowance by four percent. With this, it is quite easy to calculate the increase in salary. Understand it like this, if the basic pay of the employee is Rs 18,000 then the current dearness allowance at the rate of 46 percent will be Rs 8280. But, after dearness allowance becomes 50 percent, the total DA in salary will come to nine thousand rupees. This means that it will increase by Rs 720 every month. At the same time, on maximum basic pay of Rs 56,900, currently DA is available for Rs 26,174. After dearness allowance is 50 percent, DA will be Rs 28,450. This means that the salary will increase by Rs 2276 every month.

How much will HRA increase?

Employees will also get the benefit of increase in house rent allowance along with dearness allowance. Now it will give 30 percent benefit in X category, 20 percent in Y category and 10 percent in Z category. There is a formula to calculate HRA. At present, house rent is given to government employees according to the category of the city. The government has divided cities/towns into X, Y & Z categories. Earlier the government used to give 27 percent house rent allowance in X category, 18 percent in Y category and 9 percent in Z category. This house rent allowance is given according to the basic salary of the employee. However, now employee unions estimate that the government may increase the minimum rent allowance to ten percent in the next house rent allowance revision.
