Useful news: Department of Telecommunications issued advisory regarding threatening calls

New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): The Department of Telecommunications on Friday issued an advisory to people regarding calls threatening to block their mobile numbers. Callers in the name of the Department of Telecommunications are threatening citizens that all their mobile numbers will be disconnected or that their mobile numbers are being misused for any illegal activities.

The Department of Telecommunications has also issued an advisory regarding WhatsApp calls from mobile numbers of foreign origin (like +92) pretending to be government officials and duping people. The Department of Telecommunications said, cyber criminals try to steal personal information through such calls to commit cyber crimes, financial fraud.

The Department of Telecommunications said it does not authorize anyone to make such calls on its behalf. The department has advised people not to share any information on receiving such calls. The government has asked citizens to report such frauds on the Sanchar Sathi portal ‘Chakshu-Report Suspected Fraud Communications’ feature.

Also citizens can check the mobile connection in their name on Sanchar Saathi portal ‘Know Your Mobile Connection’ feature and report any mobile connection.
