According to the statement made by the company, Pirelli P Zero R, one of the tires launched earlier this year, is designed for the daily driving of supercars. P Zero Trofeo RS stands out as a semi-slick tire that is also suitable for use on the road.

These tires were specially adapted in collaboration with the German car manufacturer to increase the Taycan’s sportiness and efficiency. Both have the “elect” sign on their cheeks, which indicates that they contain a technological solution package suitable for the features of electric vehicles and was first used on the first generation of the Porsche Taycan in 2019. Porsche’s product range currently includes more than 30 Pirelli homologated tires with elect technology, designed to accompany the brand’s transition to electric vehicles in different models such as the Macan.

INCREASES DYNAMIC FEATURES AND DRIVING ENJOYMENT

Designed to increase the dynamic features and driving pleasure of the Porsche Taycan and homologated for this model, P Zero R is a tire suitable for daily use and sporty driving. This aim was achieved thanks to Pirelli’s experience as a supplier of top-performance models and the development of the elect technology package, which helps highlight the car’s improved features compared to the previous model, such as comfort and battery range.

The double-layer carcass makes the tire structure very durable, as well as being able to support the weight applied to the rear, especially due to the aerodynamic load and the presence of batteries. Thus, the vehicle can remain stable even at high speeds. In addition to the reinforced structure, the multi-compound tire tread obtained thanks to Pirelli’s patented “Resin Blend” technology also functions to manage sudden accelerations usually seen in electric motors. The materials contained in the compound work in synergy to provide grip at different temperatures and on road surfaces, providing high performance even on wet surfaces. While the tread pattern of the model is designed to minimize noise, the efficiency demanded by Porsche is achieved with the combination of rubber components and tread pattern that reduce rolling resistance.

DESIGNED WITH A RUNWAY FOCUS

P Zero Trofeo RS, which is designed to focus on the track but is also safe for road driving, is the sportiest version Pirelli offers for the new Taycan. This product is among the highest-performance tires in Pirelli’s road range and is produced from specially developed compounds derived from rally products. The special development of the P Zero Trofeo RS for the new Porsche Taycan enables the car to achieve maximum performance in track driving. This provides high performance on dry surfaces, grip in corners and consistency that ensures repeatable results over time.

Pirelli and Porsche put great effort into the joint development of the tyres. Tire tests were carried out by Porsche’s driving dynamics engineers and development driver Lars Kern. These tests played a critical role in achieving superior driving behavior and peak performance specifically adapted for the electric sports car’s goals on the Nürburgring circuit, where the Taycan Turbo GT reached speeds of over 300 kilometers per hour. A number of construction solutions were adopted to optimize the tire’s contact area with the ground, even at high speeds.

P Zero and P Zero Trofeo RS tires developed for Taycan Turbo GT are offered with 265/35ZR21 and 305/30ZR21 size options.
