Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek attended the meeting held in Marrakesh, Morocco. World He met with German Finance Minister Christian Lindner within the scope of the Bank Group and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meetings.

COMMENT FROM ECONOMISTS
Economist Timothy Ash, in his post on his social media account regarding the meetings, said that Minister Şimşek and Turkey Republic Central Bank Governor Hafize Gaye stated that Erkan was the star of the IMF meetings and that they gave a consistent message of reform and regulation there.
Minister Şimşek thanked Ash’s post and said, “Given that Turkey has a strong story, investor interest is not surprising. “We are determined to fulfill our commitments, including ensuring price stability, restoring fiscal discipline and implementing structural reforms,” he said.

On the other hand, Institute of International Finance (IIF) Chief Economist Robin Brooks also shared a post about Minister Şimşek, with whom he met in a session within the scope of the meetings.
Brooks noted the following in his post:
“It was a great honor and happiness for me to discuss the course of Turkey with Şimşek. The Minister explained Turkey’s transition to orthodox policies and the municipal elections to be held in March 2024 with great sincerity and clarity. “Our listeners were deeply and positively moved.” (AA)
