New Delhi: Online food delivery platform Swiggy on Monday said it has now started food delivery to facilitate tourists staying on houseboats on Dal Lake in Srinagar. The company has partnered with Shikara operators for this initiative, who will help local delivery partners in delivering to the doorstep of houseboats. “Swiggy Houseboat delivery is a testament to the company’s mission to deliver services regardless of location,” Siddharth Bhaku, national business head, Swiggy Food, said in a statement.
He further added, “Our food delivery by Shikara initiative exemplifies our commitment to cater to the diverse needs of our customers, whether they are roaming the streets of the city or relaxing on a houseboat.” Additionally, the company mentioned that local delivery partners will be paid fairly for their time, as it can take longer than on-road delivery.
This opens up new opportunities for restaurants to reach out to customers and offer their delicious dishes straight to their doorstep, Swiggy said. Swiggy, which will begin operations in Srinagar in 2022, has over 300 restaurants on its platform, offering a variety of cuisines to locals and tourists alike. Swiggy Food has collaborated with nearly two lakh restaurants in more than 600 cities.
