Türk-İş President Ergün Atalay said that the work on the collective bargaining agreement, which concerns 700 thousand workers in the public sector, will be finalized today and that this work will be delivered to the ministry at the beginning of next week.
Türk-İş Chairman Ergün Atalay held a press conference on the coordination of the collective bargaining agreement, which concerns 700 thousand workers working in the public sector.
Stating that the work on the collective bargaining agreement is about to end, Atalay said, “There is improvement in the public contracts regarding base wages, there is a welfare share, there is a raise to be requested for the first 6 months, there are social benefits, there are overtime wages, there is a service increase. There are about 18 items,” he said.
Atalay said, “The friends will give their final shape today,” and added, “At the beginning of the week, our friends will deliver the results of their meetings to the ministry.”
EXPLANATION OF SENIORITY BENEFITS
Noting that they had a meeting with Hak-İş regarding public collective bargaining agreements, Atalay said, “Currently, our friends are working on the completion of nearly 700 thousand public agreements as soon as possible. The demand of the worker is also our demand, vote to finish the public contracts without going on the surface of it,” he said.
Saying that severance pay is the red line of unions and workers, Atalay said:
“Severance pay If a regulation is made about those who do not receive money, we will support whatever the government or opposition is doing, but if you say ‘Let’s sit down and talk with the bosses’, we have lost the opportunities at hand whenever we sit with the capital.
That’s why everyone needs severance pay and organization except the bosses. Journalists need it, trade unionists need it, the street picker needs it, motorcycle couriers need it too.”
‘I SEE THE TEMPORARY WORKER PROBLEM SOLVE’
Last 2-3 months outside the public contract EYTReminding that Turkey is on the agenda of the country, Atalay continued as follows:
“Right now, we have a temporary worker problem in front of us. Our dear minister is making a statement about this, he says, ‘I will handle this’.
As the head of Turk-Is, I see this as done and finished because the minister of state explains, ‘This matter will be settled’.
This issue regarding temporary workers should be brought to the agenda of the country and removed from the agenda as soon as possible. We also have subcontractors. ‘Subcontractor’ is not a good word. I don’t like the word ‘contractor’ nor do the subcontractors like it. This issue should be removed from the country’s agenda, and a legal regulation should be made as soon as possible. Let’s get this issue out of the country’s agenda.
‘REQUESTS BEFORE THE ELECTION’
Emphasizing that the demands should be fulfilled and grievances should be eliminated before the election, Atalay said, “We demand the end of public contracts before the election starts, we demand temporary workers to recruit staff, we demand that the issue of subcontractors be removed from the country’s agenda. We call FETO and PKK ‘subcontractors’. Let’s get this word out of the country’s agenda,” he said. (DHA)
