While the salaries of civil servants were increased on a rolling basis in July, this increase was not made to pensions.

While pensions remain below the minimum wage, Hürriyet writer Abdulkadir Selvi, known for his closeness to the government, gave a date for the adjustment to be made to the pension.

“We talked to Vedat Işıkhan about the problems of working life. Of course, the first thing to consider was the issue of raises for retirees. I bring it up all the time. The raise given to retirees was insufficient.

THE MINISTER MADE A STATEMENT

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan said, “A study is being carried out for retirees in line with the instructions given by our President. When the study on this issue is completed, it will be presented to our President. As AK Party governments, we did not subject our retirees, workers, and civil servants to inflation during our rule. We will continue with the same understanding from now on. “Our retirees are very important to us because they have contributed to the production and working life of our country for years. In this regard, making arrangements for our retirees is one of the basic policies of our government,” he said.

WORK WILL START NEXT WEEK

According to the information I have obtained, it will be discussed at the ministerial level next week under the chairmanship of Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz. The Parliament will open on October 1. The study will be presented to the Parliament after being discussed in the Cabinet.

I have previously written that preparations are being made according to three alternatives regarding the raise for retirees. “The recommendation was to increase the minimum monthly salary and make a proportional increase.” This will be matured in the work to be carried out under the chairmanship of Cevdet Yılmaz. At the cabinet meeting, it will be given its final shape and sent to the Parliament. It sounds more like a price increase to me.

GAVE A DATE FOR RETIREMENT INCREASE

So, if there is a raise, when will it be implemented? Will it be delayed until January 2024 or will it be in the pockets of retirees without waiting for the new year? For this, the date in the legal regulation passed by the Parliament will be valid. My impression is that the retirement increase will be reflected on retirees without being postponed until the new year.

WILL BAĞ-KUR’S PREMIUMS DECREASE?

I also bring it up in TV programs from time to time. Bağ-Kur residents have a premium problem. This situation is especially challenging for small tradesmen. While paying 7,200 days of premium is considered sufficient for SSK members, Bağ-Kur members have to pay 9,000 days of premium. President Erdoğan also promised to eliminate this injustice. Minister of Labor Işıkhan said, “The issue of reducing the number of premium days of Bağ-Kur residents from 9 thousand to 7 thousand 200 covers approximately 1 million Bağ-Kur residents, especially those who work as small tradesmen. “We will fulfill the instructions of our President,” he said.

LATEST SITUATION IN EYT PEOPLE

There are some EYT students who have applied but still cannot retire. Minister of Labor Vedat Işıkhan said that those who receive notification that they deserve retirement will not lose any of their rights. The savings remained in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir. This is due to workload. Vedat Işıkhan announced that the accumulated money will be transferred to their accounts and all EYT members will be paid their salaries before the end of the year. The Minister of Labor thanked the SSI staff for their devoted work. It is not easy, the retirement process that took 1 year was completed in 1 month.

THEIR SALARIES WILL BE BOUND

2 million 200 thousand 115 people applied for retirement. When duplicates are deducted, this number decreases to 2 million. 1 million 899 thousand people have been retired. It is expected that the salaries of all EYT employees will be paid as soon as possible.

CIVIL SERVANTS AND PUBLIC RETIRED SERVANTS

There is a rate determined in collective bargaining negotiations regarding civil servants and retired civil servants. In 2024, they will receive the inflation difference plus a 10 percent raise in the first 6 months. 10 percent is a low rate, but their salaries are expected to increase by 50 percent with the inflation difference. Thus, the lowest civil servant salary will increase from 22 thousand TL to 33 thousand TL.

It is a good increase proportionally, but the real solution is to reduce inflation. No matter how high a raise you give, inflation takes it away. But it is also useful for the employee to have a protection shield against inflation. “At least it protects the employee against inflation.”
