Fish stalls continue to preserve their abundance in Eskişehir. Tradesmen, who said that the prices were updated close to the end of the season, announced that the most expensive fish was salmon.
After many years, for the first time in the Black Sea, anchovy and bonito were plentiful. Stressing that they are generally satisfied with this season, the fishermen said that the cheapest fish in the stalls is sardines and the most expensive fish are salmon. Citizens, on the other hand, are most in demand for sardines.
“PRICES MAY BE HIGHER IN THE FOLLOWING DAYS”
Fish seller Muharrem Şahin, who said that the fish prices increased due to the weather conditions and the interest of the citizens decreased accordingly, said that the prices may increase even more in the coming days.
Şahin stated that the most preferred sardine is sold for 50 TL per kilo. “Due to the weather conditions, the fish market has slowed down at the moment. The temperatures started to rise and the citizens’ interest in fish decreased because the prices were high. The reason for the high prices is that the big ships have withdrawn from the sea and the small boats are left, and there is not much fish coming out of it because Ramadan is ahead of us. Prices may increase further in the coming days. The best-selling fish is sardines. Sardines are sold for 50 TL per kilo, bonito for 50 TL, sea bream for 120 TL, sea bass for 150 TL, salmon for 350 TL and yellow wing for 250 TL.” he said.
