In addition, Washington also announced the sale of 40 F-35 fighter jets to Greece on the same day. Moreover, in addition to aircraft, the United States will give the Greek army a large number of weapons free of charge, including warships, tanks, armored vehicles, and C-130 military cargo planes.

Considering Turkey’s upgrade of F-16s to the Viper model and ordering modernization kits as “an important problem”, the newspaper stated that almost all of the Turkish fleet consists of F-16 aircraft and that, thanks to the USA, they are now about to catch up with Ankara in the air.
Writing that they are far behind Turkey in terms of armed unmanned aerial vehicles and drones, Kathimerini stated that Turkey is now at a level where it exports UAVs to world countries in addition to production. Stating that Ankara makes sales to nearly 20 countries, the newspaper said that these sales amount to billions of dollars.
In the analysis, it was also reminded that the Greek army was progressing extremely slowly in this regard, and it was stated that they would begin to focus on this area with two new laws in the coming days.
Stating that the ships they bought from the USA and France are important for the balance of power in the Aegean Sea, but that they generally have an old fleet, Kathimerini newspaper reported that Turkey has significantly increased its shipbuilding capability with domestically produced ships in recent years.
Admitting that Turkey is superior to them in terms of the number of ships, the newspaper wrote that Greece did not invest enough in the navy as of 2024, and that the sector was shrinking because it did not pay a good salary to the people working in this field.
Stating that Turkey has invested in unmanned vehicles in the field of submarines and has become a world leader in this regard in recent years, Kathimerini wrote that Greece has German-made Type 214s in its inventory. On the other hand, in the recently published list of the world’s most powerful armies, Turkey ranked 8th, while Greece ranked 32nd.
