Creator of Fortnite buys company Aquiris

Epic Games Brasil announced the acquisition of Aquiris, one of the references in the games market and recognized for award-winning titles, including Wonderbox and the Horizon Chase franchise. Based at Tecnopuc in Porto Alegre, the game studio’s team of developers will join Epic Games to create content and social experiences within Fortnite.
More than that, the team from the company from Rio Grande do Sul will now be the base of Epic Games Brasil, the first Epic studio in Latin America, which is being launched.
Epic Games Executive Vice President of Game Development, Alain Tascan, highlighted the talents of the Aquiris team in creating innovative games that attract global appeal.
“Aquiris is at the forefront of game development in Brazil and Latin America, and being part of Epic Games will highlight our region’s developers to the entire industry. With the creation of Epic Games Brasil, we look forward to tapping into the immense talent the region has to offer and establishing our presence in the region.”
The CEO of Aquiris and now studio director of Epic Games Brasil, Mauricio Longoni, projects that this union will increase the success in the creation of branded games, such as Wonderbox, Horizon Chase 2 and Looney Tunes World of Mayhem, which will continue to be operated by gaucho studio. “We are delighted to leverage our experience using Unreal Engine in game development to contribute to the future of Fortnite,” he says.
