The business world is in mourning in Gran Canaria. This Saturday he passed away Gerardo Acosta Matosfounder of the real estate group ACosta Matosa company that has diversified into activities such as tourism.
Endowed with great business instinct, without desire for prominence and always with the ability to reach agreements, he managed to put together a business group that has been key to the urban development of the islandsespecially from Gran Canaria.
The company has been able to face the ups and downs of the market and guarantee its continuity through the next generation.
Last year his son José joined the Gran Canaria Business Circle. It was in October 2023 and at that time José Acosta Matos valued having experienced the world of construction from a very young age with the help of his father Gerardo, who transmitted to him his passion for the sector. Since 2012, José Acosta has been president of the family business.
After more than 40 years of history, Acosta Matos has diversified into the tourism, energy and financial sectors, thus promoting company’s equity line.
Great work in the worst time
Along these lines, Acosta Matos opted, in the midst of a pandemic, for rconversion of the tourist accommodation sector of the Canary archipelago. To this end, it joined RIC Private Equity, the first collective investment entity of the RIC in the Canary Islands, created together with other renowned businessmen in the archipelago, and whose objective is to offer other businessmen and professionals the opportunity to materialize their RIC endowments in a joint.
In 2019 José Acosta Matos collected one of the rRotarian knowledge for the contribution of his company to make the Maternal and Child Solidarity Terrace a reality. It was further proof of the businessman’s social involvement, that he understood that the investor’s commitment entailed what is now known as corporate social responsibility.
A good part of that commitment was channeled precisely through Rotarians.
