Luis Enríquez leaves Vocento after 13 years in the Group

The Board of Directors of Vocento has today agreed to the departure of the CEO, Luis Enríquez, considering that his long and fruitful period in charge of the communication group since his appointment in July 2011 has been completed.
During these almost 13 years, Enríquez has achieved the consolidation of the group and has advanced a process of transformation and diversification that has resulted in the fact that, today, more than 46% of total income is digital and diversification.
Under Enríquez’s mandate, the group’s four major areas of diversification (Classifieds, Digital Services, Agencies and Gastronomy) have been consolidated and Vocento’s leadership in regional and general press has been reinforced. The outgoing CEO also leaves a company with a differential financial position that allows Vocento to keep all its strategic options open.
The president of Vocento, Ignacio Ybarra, wanted to thank Enríquez for his work over all these years: «For more than a decade, Luis has managed to direct Vocento with brilliance and firmness towards digitalization and growth in a perimeter close to communication and complementary with the media. The results are there. Now we begin a new cycle of consolidation of the areas of diversification and integration of the new opportunities that digitalization and artificial intelligence represent for the group. We will always thank Luis for his extraordinary work.
Enríquez’s departure will be effective after the General Shareholders’ Meeting, next April 23. Iñaki Arechabaleta, current deputy to the CEO and with more than 30 years at Vocento, will be the company’s first executive until the new CEO is appointed; will guarantee an orderly transition and will provide continuity to the group’s strategy and the objectives set for 2024. “We have a very senior and highly motivated team that will maintain the direction of the company with the professionalism that it has always demonstrated,” president Ignacio has also declared. Iñaki Arechabaleta, new chief executive of Vocento
Bilbaíno, graduated in Economics and Business Sciences from the Commercial University of Deusto, in 1994 he was appointed general director of El Correo and, in October 2002, after the merger with Prensa Española, he joined Vocento. Since 2011, and hand in hand with the CEO, Luis Enríquez, he has been responsible for the transformation of the Group as General Business Director. In 2021 he assumed the position of deputy CEO, a position he has held until today.
