Mutuality of the legal profession rejects the UPTA proposal for harming 150,000 mutual members

Mutuality has today rejected the UPTA proposal by which the entry of lawyers and attorneys to the RETA would mean the capitalization of 3,600 million euros. The entity considers that the proposal seeks to benefit 60,000 mutual members, “directly” harming 150,000 mutual members that “they trust the management of Mutualidad.”

In this sense, they hide behind the fact that the proposal assumes that “Social Security liquidate the real estate assets of alternative mutual societiesand the economic result of said liquidation is distributed proportionally based on the contributions made by the mutual members.”

From the Mutual Society, they state that they have shown their agreement with the Government’s recent statement of recognizing mutual members prior to 1996, in a current situation of vulnerability, the possibility of opting for the conversion of the capital accumulated in the Mutual Society. in periods quoted with the minimum base in the RETA. “However, it is up to Social Security to establish the criteria it considers most appropriate to facilitate this transfer and, for our part, we will contribute through constructive dialogue to finding a fair solution that guarantees the interests of the more than 210,000 mutual members,” they explain.

In this way, they reject the proposal of the association directed by Eduardo Abad for being “unacceptable and incomprehensible from an economic and legislative point of view”. Furthermore, they denounce that it is an injustice for the vast majority of people who have been contributing responsibly to their social security plans, trusting in the profitability that belonging to Mutualidad gives them, an average of 4.17% in the last 10 years.

They conclude that the savings of the 60,000 mutual self-employed workers should not, “in any case”, communicate without their consent; since, “thanks to our individual capitalization system, each mutual member has their economic rights individualized and assigned in their position account.”

UPTA considers that the response reinforces them

The self-employed association considers that with the volume of savings they are managing“it is inconceivable that mutual members have pensions that barely reach 500 euros per month.”
