The farmers protests They face their fifteenth day this Tuesday, February 20, after a few days marked by mobilizations throughout Spain. The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, wants the autonomous communities to also assume their “role” in the face of the rural crisis and the protests that farmers and ranchers have been leading mobilizations for three weeks now. The mobilizations occur just when it has become known that the Spanish exports exceeded 383,000 million of euros last year, a figure that is close to the Government’s target of 400,000 million estimated for 2027, but is 1.4% lower than the historical record reached in 2022. The data published this Monday by the Ministry of Economy, Commerce and Business reveal that imports reached 424,000 million, 7% less than in 2022, which means that the trade deficit has been reduced by 43% to 40,500 million euros.
Meanwhile, the agricultural professional organizations will maintain the mobilizations, at least, until next February 26, the date on which COAG, Asaja and UPA have called for a mobilization in Madrid, coinciding with the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Agriculture of the EU . For its part, Unión de Uniones has also maintained its calendar of protests in Spain and the large tractor-trailer to arrive in Madrid that was scheduled for Wednesday, February 21 to protest the serious situation that the Spanish countryside is going through in front of the doors of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Since the first day of mobilization, February 6, the Ministry of the Interior has identified 8,886 people for possible sanctions, with the filing of just over 3,189 administrative complaints for roadblocks and tractor trailers in different parts of Spain. In addition, the number of detainees has now reached 44 people accumulated since the first day of the protest.
