The farmers protests They face their twenty-third day this Wednesday, February 28, after a few weeks marked by mobilizations throughout Spain. The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, has called this Wednesday for a new meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of the professional agricultural organizations, Agrarian Association of Young Farmers (Asaja), Coordinator of Organizations of Farmers and Ranchers (COAG) and Union of Small Farmers and Ranchers (UPA), after the protests in Madrid.

Luis Planas yesterday called on the European Commission to “accelerate” the necessary legislative modifications to guarantee an “urgent and forceful” response to farmers’ complaints.

Since the first day of mobilization, February 6, the Ministry of the Interior has identified 8,886 people for possible sanctions, with the filing of just over 3,189 administrative complaints for roadblocks and tractor trailers in different parts of Spain.
