Caretaker Finance Minister Shamshad Akhtar says that a staff level agreement has been reached with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Shamshad Akhtar, while giving a news briefing on the talks with the IMF, said that the caretaker government implemented the standby arrangement as soon as it came, the IMF has emphasized on financial stability, development works will not be stopped for financial stability. .
He said that the economy has started to improve, inflation has also started to decrease.
The Caretaker Finance Minister said that the tax collection was monitored and improved, and the budget of the current financial year was fully implemented.
Shamshad Akhtar said that government expenditure will be reduced, revenue will be increased, public investment plan will be started for development works.
The Caretaker Finance Minister further said that the social network for the poor will be further strengthened.
Shamshad Akhtar said that financial assistance will be given to 93 lakh poor families.
He said that steps will be taken to improve the electricity and gas sectors, the management of discos will be handed over to the private sector, the power division has done a good job to prevent electricity theft.
The Caretaker Finance Minister said that the market-based exchange rate will continue in the country, the foreign exchange reserves will be increased, the IMF has asked for more measures for the financial stability of the banks.
