Thailand welcomes the new year at Siam Park

The event was inaugurated by the Honorary Consul of Thailand and vice president of the Loro Parque group, Christoph Kiessling and Khun Naphidthidla Tha-Wi- Rat- Chai – Choth, the president of the Thai Association in the Canary Islands, who shared their good wishes with all present giving way to the party.

The Thai association displayed the most diverse activities and exhibitions for visitors, guests and tourists visiting the Kingdom of Water, creating the perfect Thai atmosphere for all those present. Music, which was the protagonist throughout the day, set the stage for the traditional dancers who opened the activities: the spectacular nature of the Muay Thai martial art, a fun papaya salad contest in which the sense of humor counted as much as the flavor. , the election of Miss Songkran for children and various exhibitions including Thai massages that the public could enjoy.

The most emotional act of the day was the water ceremony. A ritual called Rod Nam Dum Hua in which tribute is paid to the elders of the community, pouring scented water over their hands as a sign of respect and gratitude, receiving their blessings.

This water ritual, which originally consisted of pouring water from a cup over the heads of others, as a symbol of purification, is now a festival in which everyone participates by getting themselves and others wet in a water battle. An intense and exciting day in which the “Sawasdee Pee Mai” (Happy New Year in Thai language) was heard incessantly.
