The mayor of Burgos, Cristina Ayala, explained this Monday the decision of the City Council to dissolve the two consortiums that were formed with the now defunct Caja Círculo and Caja de Burgos, the one for the train diversion and the one for Villalonquéjar, and assume a debt of 200 million euros that costs the City Council 20,000 euros in interest per day.

The mayor appeared at a press conference alongside the vice mayor, Fernando Martínez-Acítores; the Councilor for Urban Planning, Juan Manuel Manso, and the spokesperson for the Government team, Andrea Ballesteros. Ayala, who has reviewed the history of the birth of the consortia of the train diversion and the Villalonquéjar industrial estate for the commercialization of land, together with the defunct Caja Círculo and Caja de Burgos, 25 years ago, and recalled that a time when the banking entities were present in the consortia through their foundations, but At a “certain moment” Caja Círculo decided to get out of both.

For this reason, currently, both consortia are made up of the City Council and the Caja de Burgos Foundation, who have asked to abandon these consortia “because the work they were providing ceases, in some way, to be useful and practical,” he explained. “We made the decision that the logical and reasonable thing to do is to dissolve both consortiums,” explained the mayor, who pointed out that “after many deliberations” it was decided to carry out the dissolution of both entities “as soon as possible” because every day Without solving the issue of the consortiums, the city council will incur 20,000 euros in interest.”
