The wages that ballot box officials will receive have been announced

The countdown has begun for the local elections to be held in 2024. Millions of voters will go to the polls to vote for new mayors and muhtars on Sunday, March 31.

While preparations for local elections continue, some citizens will be on duty at the polls.

The YSK election calendar continues to run, but no official statement has yet been made regarding the ballot box officer application dates.

CIVIL SALARY INCREASES ACCORDING TO ITS COEFFICIENT

The salary that ballot box officials who will work in local elections will receive has been a matter of curiosity. Poll worker wages are calculated according to the civil servant salary coefficient.

Accordingly, it is expected that ballot box committee chairmen will be paid 2,947 TL, ballot box officials will be paid 2,088 TL, party members will be paid 1,044 TL, and building managers will be paid 2,936 TL.

The difference of approximately 900 TL between the salaries of the ballot box chairman and the ballot box officer is noteworthy. This difference is attributed to the ballot box president assuming most of the responsibility from the beginning to the end of the election process.

The building manager receives a higher wage than other officials because he is responsible for preparing the environment necessary for the ballot box committee to work.

BALLOT OFFICER APPLICATION CONDITIONS

Those who want to work at the ballot box in the election should follow the announcements of the election boards for the ballot box officer application conditions.

» The following conditions are generally required to become a ballot box official:

» Being a citizen of the Republic of Türkiye,

» Being over 18 years of age,

» Not having any political party membership

» Not being convicted of any crime

HOW TO BECOME A BALLOT BOX OFFICIAL?

In order to be on duty in the ballot box committee on the election day, it is necessary to apply to the relevant election board chairmanship according to your residence address. The application for an Election Polling Officer will be made according to the announcements made by the district election boards.

Applications usually open several months before the election. There are two types of ballot box officials. The first of these, the ballot box officer, is determined by the Supreme Electoral Board (YSK) from among those who are civil servants.

The second one will be the ballot box officer of the parties. Applications for ballot box officials of the political parties that will participate in the elections are made to the YSK.

Parties notify the YSK about the people they will designate as ballot box officials, and an application form is filled out for this purpose. It is not possible to do it online, but it is necessary to apply to the YSK.
