13 producers and 8 breeders now ambassadors

“Life has taste in Haute-Loire”, a brand of the committee for the promotion of agricultural and agri-food products, headed by the Chamber of Agriculture, was supported for the second year by the Departmental House of Tourism, to highlight the territory rich in its heritage, and its qualities of agricultural production at the International Agricultural Show (SIA).

Nearly sixty producers and breeders, some of whom are members of the Promotion Committee, thus found themselves at Porte-de-Versailles from February 24 to March 3. Several of them participated in the general agricultural competition, including 13 producers and eight award-winning breeders.

The pigs make a raid

And among the producers, suffice to say that the pork was appreciated since eleven medals were attributed to the transformed pig. Charcuterie, sausages, hams, country pâté, in fact won over the juries, since a prize of excellence was won, two gold medals were won, as well as four silver medals, and four bronze medals .

Two herbal liqueur producers also returned home with a medal around their necks (silver and bronze), as well as a yogurt manufacturer (silver). And then eight animals were also awarded prizes including purebred dogs (the Basset Hound), Montbéliard cows winning five prizes and a Charolais male.

Extra visibility

So many distinctions which undoubtedly bring additional visibility to the recipients as confided by the butcher of La Séauve-sur-Semène who has since sold all his sausages, but not only that, since the Department and Chamber of Agriculture have qualified them as ambassadors of Haute-Loire.

All were thus distinguished on Friday and awarded a trophy with all the participants in SIA 2024. That is a total of sixty-seven products and eight animals. Finally, we will note the involvement, at SIA, of young people, future farmers.

Thus, the Brioude-Bonnefont agricultural high school which won third prize in the International Agricultural Education Trophy. And Gaëtan Charradewho during the ovinpiades final received third prize for the best shepherds in Auvergne.
